Alex Iwobi has praised his teammate Victor Osimhen, describing the striker as a relentless competitor whose mentality sets him apart at the highest level.
Speaking about Osimhen’s focus and intensity, Iwobi highlighted the striker’s fearless playing style and unwavering commitment on the field.
“Osimhen is a true warrior; he is an incredible guy. In training, he put his head into every ball, even at the risk of injury,” Iwobi explained.
“Just with his work ethic, he creates positions that can change the destiny of a game single-handedly.”
Iwobi went further to emphasize that Osimhen’s rise to the top is not a surprise.

“I’m not surprised by the position he’s in now. It doesn’t matter who the opponent is, whether it’s Virgil van Dijk or some amateur, he never backs down. He did it against van Dijk too, mate!
“He plays the Champions League with the same winning drive as a neighborhood game. He always wants to win, and that mentality of his is incredible, brother.”
The duo showed strong chemistry during AFCON 2025, where they participated together in five matches for Nigeria.
Osimhen put in an impressive performance with four goals and two assists, while Iwobi contributed creatively with two assists and 344 successful passes, highlighting their growing partnership.
His knowledge on the pitch remains a key asset for Nigeria as they move towards future competitions.
