NIPR FCT partners with TYCI and recommits to cultivating future leaders


The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Federal Capital Territory Chapter, has said it is prioritizing the training of a credible successor generation, who will lead with strong communication and leadership skills.

The President of the FCT Chapter of the NIPR, Stanley Ogadigo, stated this on Thursday in Abuja while receiving in audience, the leadership and team of the Young Communicators Initiative (TYCI) and noted that the chapter has been consistently intentional in designing and implementing projects that add value to the nation.

Ogadigo, a member of the Institute, said some of the Chapter’s corporate social responsibility initiatives significantly focus on the youth and students of all learning institutions, with the aim of providing advocacy and mentorship platforms that will equip them for effective leadership.

“We have initiatives covering secondary schools and tertiary institutions. We have just established the Public Relations Excellence Award for the best mass communication graduate students in institutions of higher learning across the FCT, starting with Baze University, Abuja. This initiative seeks to promote academic excellence as well as providing the right industry exposure to communication students,” he said.

He said the launch of the first public relations and leadership clubs in government secondary schools in the FCT was an important project to instill the values ​​of public relations and quality leadership skills in students, informing that arrangements are underway to bring public relations into primary schools, as a way of deepening the concept of “Catching Them Young”.

While appreciating the body for officially presenting its report to the Chapter, the President expressed willingness to collaborate with The Young Communicators Initiative (TYCI) in introducing programs which will be part of the Career Day for primary school pupils to create awareness about the public relations profession.

Earlier in her remarks, TYCI founder Chinenye Priscilla Anaemena expressed gratitude for the Chapter’s investment in developing leadership talent, particularly its support of the initiative during its first edition of Vision 2035 AI-Athon 1.0, a Digital LeadHERship project and speech competition for FCT secondary school prefects.

According to her, TYCI is training young people to understand the role of digital skills and AI technology which, according to her, play a vital role in deepening effective leadership.

Presenting the official report to the chapter president, the TYCI founder solicited the chapter’s partnership for the 2026 edition of the Vision 2035 AI-Athon, which will be part of the activities celebrating the International Day of the Girl Child. He presented the report of the 2025 edition of the program to his guest.
