NSCDC arrests suspected railway track vandal in Kano

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 22-year-old suspect over alleged vandalism of railway lines in Kano State.

The Corps also detained two suspects for allegedly impersonating its personnel.

NSCDC Commander Mohammed Hassan-Agalama stated this in a statement by corps spokesperson Ibrahim Idris, Thursday in Kano.

Hassan-Agalama said the suspects were allegedly involved in the destruction and theft of 11 railway track clips under the Federal Government railway modernization project connecting Kaduna to Kano.

He said the suspect, a resident of Kuya village in Ikara Local Government Area of ​​Kaduna State, was arrested by officers following reliable intelligence in a village in Kiru Local Government Area of ​​Kano State.

The commander said initial investigations revealed that the suspect damaged and removed 11 railroad track clips attached to the new standard gauge.

He added that the corps recovered a hammer from the suspect.
