The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, has congratulated Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, on her historic election as the 33rd and first female President of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA).
The union described her rise as a defining moment in the history of Nigeria’s legal profession and a significant milestone for women in leadership.
In a statement from the union’s FCT Council president, Comrade Grace Ike noted on Tuesday that the election of Ms. Badejo-Okusanya as the first woman elected to lead the NBA sends a strong message that competence, resilience, integrity, excellence and visionary leadership transcend gender.
“The emergence of two women at the helm of two of Nigeria’s most prominent professional bodies in such a short period is a powerful affirmation that the nation’s institutions are increasingly embracing competence and excellence above all else.
“We believe these achievements will inspire a new generation of women to aspire to leadership and contribute meaningfully to national development,” the statement read.
