The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from releasing the voter list to the Rivers State Independent National Electoral Commission for the October 5 local government elections in the state.
Justice Peter Lifu issued the order while ruling on a lawsuit filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
This is the second time in more than two months that judges have stopped INEC from releasing voter lists to RSIEC.
Justice Lifu on July 19 barred the commission from releasing the voter list to the Rivers electoral body.

He barred the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Department of State Services (DSS) from participating or providing security for RSIEC in the elections.
During Monday’s hearing, the judge berated RSIEC for setting October 5 as the election date without complying with the relevant laws governing the conduct of elections.
He stated that the KPU violated the provisions of the regional election law because it did not issue the mandatory notification 90 days before organizing the election.
Lifu reiterated the ban on police and DSS participating in the election.
