Ondo Amotekun sheets 5 attempts of kidnapping, stops suspicions

The Amotekun code of the western Nigeria security network, Amatekun Corps in the State of Ondo foiled five attempts at kidnapping in two weeks in the state.

Adventunji Adeleye, state commander, Amotekun Corps, revealed him on Wednesday in Akure while he was addressed to journalists.

Adeleye said that no redemption was paid in the five cases, while the last attempt took place on Monday when a garment was kidnapped in a community close to Akure.

He explained that the rescue line was contacted and with the joint efforts of local hunters and body staff Amotekun, the kidnappers were pursued at night.

“We were able to recover Okada’s head and pilot who were kidnapped without paying any redemption.

“Even in Akoko Axis, some kidnappers devastated the farms, raped women and took some victims between 1.00 and 2.00 in the morning long Ajegunle Road.

“Within 48 hours, the people were released and three of the suspicions that had been identified as part of the band were arrested. We have them here, both the victim and the suspicions.

“The same thing goes to the central senatorial district, where some suspicions kidnapped were arrested by Amatekun again and were equally identified by the victims

“Today we have a total of 17 suspicions: eight under the breakdown of the law and the order, three for the kidnapping and you are involved in robbery and rape,” he said.

The commander assured that Amotekun Corps was ready to collaborate with other security agencies to guarantee the sustenance of the peaceful atmosphere currently enjoyed in the state.

Adeleye also said that farmers/shepherds collided in the state have drastically reduced and urged the residents of Ondo to support the body with timely information.
