Monrovia, May 8, 2026; The Deputy Minister for Technical and Vocational Education and Training at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Laraamand Shenkin Nyonton, says only 75 motorcyclists have so far registered for the government’s free tuition program introduced at the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI).

Speaking Thursday at the Ministry of Information’s regular press briefing, Nyonton said the Ministry of Youth and Sports, on April 23, 2026, directed NVTI authorities to provide 29 tuition scholarships for motorcyclists and ninth-grade students seeking vocational education opportunities.

He noted that since the program’s announcement, the ministry has seen a significant increase in interest among young people, although the number of registered motorcyclists remains low.

According to him, the enrollment process is divided into two categories. The first category targets ninth-grade students interested in attending NVTI, with the government covering their tuition fees once they complete registration.

The second category focuses on motorcyclists from the ninth-grade level and above who already possess vocational skills. Under this arrangement, beneficiaries are required to pay L$5,600 as a registration fee, while the Ministry of Youth and Sports will cover the remaining tuition costs for the next 12 months.

Meanwhile, Nyonton disclosed that students enrolled in the program will also receive free training materials upon completion of the registration process.
