Police arrest suspected armed robbers in Imo

Police agents in Imo have arrested two armed robbery suspects after a successful operation in the state capital.

They also recovered a pump-action shotgun and a “stolen motorbike” in the operation.

Spokesman of the state police command, Henry Okoye, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Owerri.

He said agents of the New Owerri Divisional Headquarters, acting on credible intelligence, arrested the suspects, identified as Sohnani Bitrus (25), and Burfa Selkap (25) on April 3.

He stated that the two suspects were natives of Langtang Local Government Area of ​​Plateau State.

“‎Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects robbed one Joel Andrew at his residence at approximately 4am, threatened him with a firearm and unlawfully seized his red Daylong motorbike, with Registration Number NWA765QT.

“The motorbike has been found.
“Further interrogation of the suspects resulted in the discovery of pump guns and machetes at their hideout in Okwu-Uratta, Owerri North Local Government Area,” Okoye added.

He disclosed that the suspects would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Owerri, for further investigation.
