President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his goodwill and best wishes to Nigeria’s Paralympic athletes participating in the ongoing Commonwealth Games, expressing confidence that they will once again make the country proud through exceptional performances.
The President’s message was conveyed to FAKS MEDIA in Abuja by his Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Persons Living with Disabilities, Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa, who said President Tinubu is optimistic that Paralympic athletes from the Nigerian team will continue their tradition of excellence on the international stage.
According to the Hon. Abba Isa, the president, is confident that the Nigerian contingent possess the talent, determination and resilience needed to deliver another memorable outing at the Games.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu sends his warm wishes to all our Paralympic athletes representing Nigeria at the Commonwealth Games. He believes in their abilities and is confident that they will make the nation proud once again, just as they have consistently done over the years,” he said.
He noted that Nigeria’s Paralympic athletes have remained one of the country’s greatest sporting success stories, consistently winning medals at the Paralympic Games, Commonwealth Games, African Games and other major international competitions.
“Our Paralympic athletes have produced the largest number of medals in Nigeria’s sporting history. They have become symbols of determination, resilience and excellence. We are confident that these Commonwealth Games will be no different and we expect them to once again fly the Nigerian flag high,” said the Hon. – declared Abba Isa.
The presidential aide urged the athletes to remain focused throughout the competition, compete with discipline and demonstrate the fighting spirit that has earned Nigerian para-sports global recognition.
He also recognized the sacrifices made by the coaches, technical officials, medical staff and administrators who worked tirelessly to prepare the athletes for the Games.
Hon Abba Isa also took the opportunity to commend the leadership of the National Sports Commission (NSC), led by its Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko, and Director General, Hon. Bukola Olopade, for what he defined as the renewed commitment to the development of sport in Nigeria.
According to him, President Tinubu is satisfied with the direction of sports administration under the current leadership of the NSC, noting that the support provided to athletes and sports federations is already yielding positive results.
“The President appreciates the efforts of the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko, and the Director General, Hon. Bukola Olopade. Their dedication, reforms and commitment to Nigerian sports are evident and the progress recorded in different sporting disciplines is encouraging.
“The administration remains committed to providing an enabling environment for the success of our athletes. The President believes that with the current leadership of the National Sports Commission, Nigerian sports will continue to experience greater achievement both in Africa and on the global stage,” he added.
He expressed optimism that the country’s Paralympic athletes would once again justify the faith reposed in them by delivering exceptional performances and significantly contribute to Nigeria’s medal haul at the Commonwealth Games.
As the competition continues, millions of Nigerians can look forward to another successful campaign from the Paralympic athletes, whose remarkable achievements over the years have made them one of the nation’s most reliable sources of international sporting glory.
With the backing of President Tinubu and the continued support of the National Sports Commission, expectations remain high that Team Nigeria’s Paralympic athletes will once again write another memorable chapter in the country’s rich sporting history.
