The Committee of the House of Representatives of the Regional Council of Federal Capital and additional problems has summoned the State Minister for FCT, Mariya Bunkure, to appear before that on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, to maintain the proposed 2025 FCT budget.
The summons came on Monday after the Committee noted that only three of the 14 institutions under the supervision of the ministers were present to present their budget.
The Chairperson of the Committee and Representative of the Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituent, Bayelsa State, Fredrick Agbedi, issued a summons in Abuja. He criticized the absence of ministers and warned that parliament would not hesitate to use his constitutional power if he failed to appear.

Agbedi reminded the committee about the urgency of this problem, said that President Tinubu had asked parliamentary members to speed up the budget process.
Expressing concerns over what he described as the neglect of ministers for such important issues, Agbedi noted that Bunkure had been invited and told about the meeting with the agency.
“As a committee, we touch the FCT people’s cloth because we deal directly with the people. This committee is very important for FCT people. The minister must appear before this committee tomorrow,” Agbedi insisted.
Adding to criticism, Paul Kalejaiye, a member who represented Ajeromy Ifelodun Federal Constituency, the state of Lagos, described the absence of ministers as insult to parliamentary authorities and warned that the committee might be forced to ask for his constitutional power if he failed to attend on Tuesday.
