The committee said that it successfully completed its work on May 10 and praised the candidates, party stakeholders and security personnel for maintaining order during the exercise.

The report further revealed that the 29 MPs serving under the leadership of Deputy Speaker, Dumle Maol, were all approved to contest the APC primaries ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.

It was also revealed that the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, chose to seek a seat in the House of Representatives after reportedly purchasing nomination forms.

Explaining the reasons for the disqualification, the committee stated that some candidates had been screened out “including nominations by individuals who are not members of the party who have a recent financial history, attempted inducement or bribery, submission of unsworn written statements, failure to present voter cards or party membership slips, conflicting birth dates, irregularities in documentation, and insufficient or invalid nominations, etc.”
