SDP screens Adebayo, others before convention

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has reiterated its commitment to a credible national convention scheduled for May 9 in Bauchi.

To achieve this goal, the party has its presidential candidate, Dr. Adewale Adebayo, and other contestants for various elective positions in the convention.

National Chair of SDP, Prof. Sadiq Gombe, told his party members on Wednesday in Abuja that the party had made “extensive preparations” to ensure a smooth and hitch-free exercise.

He said four committees had been formed to manage the exercise.

“We have established four committees, including the Screening Committee, Election Committee, Convention Committee and several sub-committees, each with clear responsibilities to ensure credible implementation,” its chairman said.

He explained that the examination took place in the party conference room, which also serves as the registered office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to him, the exercise covered all candidates for elected office, including the president, governors of 36 states, the National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly.

Gombe said his party was determined to nominate candidates in all constituencies nationwide in the 2027 elections.
