Super Eagles held to goalless draw by Rwanda in controversial AFCONQ clash

Nigeria’s Super Eagles were held to a goalless draw by Rwanda in their second match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Ademola Lookman thought he had broken the deadlock for Nigeria but the referee made a controversial decision as the goal was ruled out for offside.

Despite the draw, Nigeria soared to the top of their AFCON qualifying group with four points.

The Super Eagles won their opening match of the qualifying series with a 3-0 victory over Benin Republic at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium last Saturday in Uyo.

The Super Eagles’ next match in the AFCON Qualifiers is a double-header against Libya in mid-October.
