Super Falcons rejects the payment of the FG $ 100k gift to Naira – Thage

The attempts of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to pay the gift of $ 100,000 of the Federal Government to the Super Falcons to equivalent Naira were resisted by the Women’s Nation Cup of West Africa, Wafcon, who insist on the other hand of receiving funds in dollars.

The television sports analyst Aris Aron Akerejola made this revelation on Monday, explaining that the controversy on the delayed bonuses was not due to the negligence by the NFF but presented itself after the players refused the payment in local currency.

“The part of the story they are not telling is that these girls were given the money,” revealed Aron, adding that “the Nff proposed to pay their indemnities to Naira to the rhythm of ₦ 1.530 to a dollar. The players refused, saying:” We do not live in Nigeria. What will we do with Naira? “

He also explained that the NFF subsequently sent the funds to the Nigeria Central Bank (CBN) for the conversion to dollars, a process that caused further delays. “It is not the fault of the NFF. The government released the money, but the players rejected Naira. That’s why he dragged himself,” he said.

The captain of the Rasheedat Ajibade team had previously aroused controversy during a media chat that the team had not received the $ 100,000 reward for the government. “We have not received our money, but hopefully, it will be paid,” he said in an interview, triggering a widespread state against the NFF and the government.

President Tinubu announced the reward, together with the honors and national houses for the team during a reception at the presidential villa after the victory of the Wafcon teams in Morocco, coming from a 2-0 down to drop their Moroccan counterpart, 3-2.
