A teacher escaped death on Tuesday after a part of a dilapidated class block collapsed at the elementary school of the Oyorokoto community, in the area of the local government of Andoni in the state of spinners.
The accident, which took place during the school hours, left the teacher injured and triggered the panic between the pupils and the staff, many of whom fled from the scene in fear.
Ocular witnesses said that the dilapidated structure sold without notice while the teacher was actively conducting a lesson.
The victim, whose name had not been disclosed at the time of the press, was saved by colleagues and members of the community before being hired for medical care.
Sources within the community referred to the platform Times that the blockade had long shown visible signs of usury, with cracks and weak bases left unattended for years. Despite this, the teachers were forced to continue using the building due to the lack of alternative classrooms.
“The teacher was just doing their job, trying to educate our children in a building that everyone knew was not sure,” said a resident who gave his name as Boma. “We shouted several times, but the government has ignored us.”
The Connect Andoni group, a local civic guard dog, confirmed that the building had been reported in previous relationships as unsuitable for learning activities, citing negligence by the authorities responsible for educational infrastructure in the State.
Community leaders have now renewed calls to the government of the state of the rivers to intervene urgently and renew the school, warning that the continuous inaction could lead to more devastating consequences.
“The life of teachers and pupils is at risk,” said a local leader. “We cannot continue to pretend that everything goes well when our children sit under the roofs that could collapse at any time.”
The efforts to obtain an answer from the State State Universal Basic Education Board (RSUBEB) spare have not been successful at the time of the presentation of this report.
