Terrorists plan attacks on Abuja airport and prisons: a customs note raises the alarm

The Nigeria Customs Service has raised fresh concerns over an alleged plot by terrorists to launch coordinated attacks on key national assets in the Federal Capital Territory and neighboring Niger state.

According to a domestic security memo obtained by TheCable, the planned targets include the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, a correctional facility in Abuja and a military detention center in Niger state.

The memo, which was reportedly circulated among relevant security and intelligence agencies, warned of imminent threats and urged greater vigilance and proactive countermeasures to prevent possible breaches.

The alert is learned to be part of ongoing intelligence sharing efforts between security agencies amid renewed fears of attacks on critical infrastructure across the country.

While the document does not reveal the identities of the suspected groups behind the plot or specify the timing of the planned attacks, it underlines the need to intensify surveillance and coordination among security agents.

Efforts to obtain official confirmation from security authorities have been unsuccessful at the time of filing this report. However, sources within the security community have indicated that precautionary measures have already been taken to prevent any potential attack.

The latest alert comes amid persistent security challenges in parts of Nigeria, with authorities under pressure to safeguard strategic installations and public spaces from terrorist threats.
