The $ 4.5 million Ogun Hotel Developer urges the government to correct the infrastructure

A Nigerian hotelier based in Canada, Mr. Oluwafemi Ayeyemmi, launched the alarm on the poor infrastructure of Nigeria, describing it as a serious threat to foreign investments and economic development.

Ayeyemi, who is currently building an N4 billion hotel in the Ijeja community of Obada-Oko, the area of the local government of Ewekoro in the state of Ogun, said that the insecurity of the nation, the multiple taxation, the poor road networks and the unreliable workforce are forcing many Nigerians in the diaspora and in other foreign students to search.

Speaking on Monday during an inspection tour of the project of his avant -garde hospitality company, Feliza Hotel and Suites, the entrepreneur complained that many of his colleagues in the United States, Canada and Europe were not willing to invest in Nigeria due to persistent infrastructure and political failures.

“Many of us in the diaspora are afraid. The system at home is discouraging. I faced a lot on my own, including the demolition of my house in 2016 without compensation. But I refused to surrender,” said Ayeyemi.

The hotel, which will open in November 2025, has 62 luxury rooms, an elevator, a spa, a gym, a swimming pool, three mini-conference rooms and an event center of 2,500 capacity. It is expected that it will take no less than 100 young people in the region upon completion.

Ayeyemmi expressed the trust that the structure not only would have transformed the panorama of the hospitality of the state of Ogun, but would also have stimulated development in the Obada-Oko axis.

However, he appealed to the state government of Ogun, led by the governor Dapo Inhabitun, to urgently fix the road to the Ijeja community, warning that bad roads threaten the feasibility of hospitality investments.

“In Canada, the construction of roads precedes any important project. But in Nigeria, it is the opposite. We took this risk hoping that the government would notice and act. Without good roads, even the best hotels will suffer,” he added.

Recalling his setback in 2016, when his property in Laderin was demolished for railway development, Ayeyemi said that we wanted to encourage his father and close friends to consider reinvestment in Nigeria.

“Since 2017, we work on this project, deepening the best equipment based on my exhibition in Canada. My message to the Nigerian companions abroad is: come home, develop your country, but also the government pressure to provide the foundations,” he said.

Ayeyemmi underlined that national development must be a joint effort between the government and its people, in particular those of the diaspora who have the resources and experience necessary to guide the change.

“The only government cannot fix this country. But they must create a favorable environment for us to contribute significantly,” he concluded.
