The Nigerian government is targeting 2m barrels of oil per day with exploration of collusion oil basins

State Minister for Oil (Oil and Gas), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri has revealed that the Federal government is targeting two million barrels of crude oil per day, more and more reasons for intensifying oil and gas exploration throughout the country.

He specifically stated that the Oil and Gas Academy of Bauchi remains a significant institution in providing labor needed in oil and gas exploration which emphasizes that the federal government has renewed its commitment to the ongoing oil exploration in the collusion basin.

Lokpobiri spoke on Saturdays in the alkaleri, alkalleries of LGA from Bauchi State, during the ceremony of laying the first stone of the Oil Academy of Oil and Gas Bauchi Alkaleri.

He explained that before the start of the current government, Nigeria had a record of less than one million oil exploration per day, therefore the need to support the exploration of collusion oil to contribute to the federal government target of more than two million barrels per day.

He assured that the federal government would support the vision of the Bauchi state government to achieve the goals set to add value to the growth and stability of the nation through economic activities.

The minister urged the state government to partner with funding for petroleum technology development that offers scholarships to assist students in advancing their knowledge.

In his speech, the Governor of the State, Sen Bala Mohammed stressed that the opportunity “marked an important milestone in the search for his government to develop vocational education and increase the empowerment of youth and women in the oil and gas sector”.

While acknowledging the efforts of the Federal Government in continuing oil exploration in the Collaman Oil Field, in addition to the release of funds to the state government, he acknowledged that part of the funds was used for the construction of oil and gas academies.

The governor also promised to support the federal government and contribute to the federation income account.

According to him, the state government has taken various steps in ensuring that the academy is aware of its core mandate even before the actualization of its permanent sites.

He added that in his efforts to ensure a successful take-off academy, he directed every regional government of the state to sponsor ten students other than a 50 percent subsidy for all students registered at the academy aimed at supporting the pursuit of education.

In his presentation, the state commissioner responsible for the development of natural resources, Maiwada Bello explained that after his approval in 2020, the academy registered more than 500 candidates and started academic activities within the location of the state owned by Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic as a temporary site.

The number of N6Billion has been allocated for the construction of the Bauchi Oil and Gas Academy (Boga) in the alkaleri.
