The Nigerian government put aside the 5% fuel tax enforcement

The federal government on Tuesday put aside the 5%petroleum product tax enforcement.

The Minister of Finance and the Coordinating Minister for Economic, Wale Edun, said that this was during the press briefing in Abuja.

The announcement followed anger over the policy.

The proposed tax has attracted criticism from Nigeria, with organized work that threatens national attacks unless the government empties the plan.

He said: “It is important to make this difference. The inclusion of additional costs in the Nigerian Tax Administration Law 2025 does not mean the introduction of new taxes automatically. That does not mean fresh tax automatically.

“There are all formal processes involved, and to this day, no orders are issued, no one is being prepared, and there are no plans. There are no immediate plans to apply any additional costs.”

Edun assured that while the law provided taxes, its implementation would not apply to now, because the government continued consultation with the main stakeholders.
