The Queens of the Heartland make history, glory at the Eye Federation Cup against the Amazons of Nasarawa

Heartland Queens will look to cap off a historic campaign by taking on Nasarawa Amazons in the 2026 Federation Cup Final at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State on Saturday 11 July 2026.

The Imo State-based women’s football team has made history by becoming the first team from the South East to qualify for the women’s Federation Cup final, a feat that has attracted praise from football stakeholders and fans across the region.

The result has sparked excitement among Imolites, who have been urged to support the team as they chase a historic trophy on the national stage.

The Imo State Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Obinna Onyeocha has congratulated Heartland Queens on their remarkable journey, describing the qualification as a landmark achievement for women’s football in Imo State and the South East.

Onyeocha praised the club’s players, coaches, management and supporters for their commitment and resilience, saying the team’s success reflects the growing development of women’s football in the state.

I congratulate Heartland Queens on this extraordinary achievement. This is a proud moment for Imo State and the entire South East as the team created history by reaching the final of the Federation Cup.

I urge all Imolites to give the team their full support as it represents our state in Asaba. This result will inspire more and more girls to embrace football and believe in their dreams,” said the commissioner.

Heartland Queens will now hope to complete their historic run with victory over Nasarawa Amazons and bring the Federation Cup title to Imo State.
