The Nigerian Red Cross Society has renewed calls for more humanitarian services, neutrality and support for vulnerable people in communities in Plateau State.
He said this as part of activities marking the World Red Cross Day 2026 held in Jos, with a march led by officials and volunteers.
The WRCD is celebrated globally in honor of Henry Dunant, whose vision laid the foundation for modern humanitarian services, and who said, “My dream is that one day all nations may learn to reach out to one another.”
The organisation’s Plateau State branch secretary, Nuruddeen Hussaini Magaaji, urged residents to understand and support the humanitarian mission of the Red Cross.
“In Plateau, we invite people to understand our impartial and neutral work as we help vulnerable people,” he said.
Magaji said the organisation’s activities are guided solely by humanity and compassion, without discrimination based on ethnicity, religion or political affiliation.
Participants in the awareness march carried banners and awareness messages aimed at encouraging citizens to support humanitarian efforts and assist those in need.
The celebration also highlighted the role of volunteers in responding to emergencies, supporting displaced people and providing relief services to vulnerable communities across the state.
