The United States Department has issued a global warning for US citizens outside the country.
The global notice issued on Sunday highlights the current conflict between Israel and Iran, while on Friday the United States launched strikes on three Iranian nuclear structures
In this context, the risk of anti-American manifestations and protests in various regions of the world has increased significantly. American citizens are invited to exercise greater vigilance by avoiding crowded places, following reports in the local media and registering in the emergency notification program.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States has forbidden flights on Iran, Iraq and Persian Gulf. The main airlines, including Emirates and Qatar Airways, are already reintegrating their flights around the conflict areas.
In Nigeria, the Mission of the United States in Nigeria has issued a security notice on Sunday, urging American citizens to avoid military and governmental structures in Abuja.
In a declaration, the American embassy warned that all the embassy staff and their families are now limited to visiting military installations and government offices in the Nigerian capital if not in official service.
“Due to the greater concerns for the security deriving from current global developments, the American Mission Nigeria informs US citizens that all employees of the US embassy and their families are prohibited by unofficial travels in a Nigerian military site or in other government offices in Abuja at this moment”, the declaration of the embassy recited.
The notice comes between global tensions and an increase in security threats, pushing precautionary measures and a revaluation of movements in sensitive places.
The embassy recommended to US citizens in Nigeria to remain vigilant, especially in public areas and popular places between expatriates, western and government officials.
They were also invited to avoid great encounters, to vary their routine and familiarize yourself with emergency exits in the buildings.
“Actions to be taken: staying in alert in public places, avoid large meetings and unnecessary trips and review your personal security plans”, recommended the alert.
Despite the safety restrictions, the consular sections of the American embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General of the United States in Lagos remain open and fully operational. US citizens who need assistance or further information were encouraged to consult the official embassy website.
In Qatar, citizens warned to stay at home.
