Three women killed in Kwara car crash

At least three women died in an accident along Oke-Onigbin and Omu-Aran roads in Kwara State.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kwara State, Kabir Kazeem, confirmed the incident to newsmen on Saturday in Ilorin.

He said the accident occurred on Friday at around 15.00 WIB when the victims were returning home after attending Labor Day celebrations in the nation’s capital.

He said: “A commercial bus, a black Mazda, with registration number ARP627KY on May 1, met with a single accident due to excessive speed.

“Seven people were involved in the accident, consisting of three men and four women, but unfortunately three women died immediately.”

Kazeem noted FRSC officers rushed to the scene and took the injured and dead passengers to the nearest hospital in Omu-Aran.

He said the driver lost control when one of the vehicle’s tires exploded while speeding.
