Yokohama (basic reporter) President of Nigeria, Bola, praised the Nigerian armed forces for their successes in the war against the insurrection and crime, underlining the commitment of his administration to face the causes of insecurity through the strengthening of the government’s security apparatus and the current economic reforms.

President Tinubu made the observations on Wednesday in Yokohama, Japan, during his intervention at the plenary session on peace and stability to the ninth meeting of the Tokyo international conference for African development (Ticad9)

He has reaffirmed that the inclusiveness, diversity and rule of law remain the greatest strengths of Nigeria. He described the current momentum in the Nigerian Armed Forces as a springboard for national development and stability.

He spoke after the opening ceremony, during which the Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba underlined the importance of mutual understanding, local solutions and collaborative efforts for the development of Africa. The prime minister outlined the attention of Japan on sustainable growth of the private sector, the Empowerment of youth and women and regional integration.

Prime Minister Ishiba has announced a collaborative economic framework between Japan and the African development bank that will see a maximum of $ 5.5 billion in Africa, using the investment finance of the private sector of the International Japanese International Cooperation Agency as a catalyst.

However, Tinubu underlined the current investments in infrastructure, institutional reforms and collaboration with civil society and international partners to improve the living standards of all Nigerians. “The courageous armed forces of Nigeria can win any number of battles, but we do justice to their heroism only when we, as a government, are courageous in facing not only terror, but also the underlying causes,” said the president.

President Tinubu underlined the essence of peace and stability to significant development, complaining that conflicts are still underway in many African countries despite some progress.

However, it highlighted the recent peace pacts mediated in Congo as proof that a new mediation model and economic considerations can produce success.

“We should not have illusions on the reach of our task. But we should not underestimate the successes we have had. In the past, the competition for resources has weakened the states and triggered conflict. Now, we see the mediators who directly connect the results to investments in the Congo. It is working and underlines the need for a new thought in everything we do to provide peace and stability.

“Nigeria understands this process well. We believe that the inclusiveness and diversity under the state of law are our strengths. We discussed this vision and we have fought for this. We are still fighting for this today. We have learned that our courageous armed forces can win many battles. But we can do justice to their heroism and sacrifice us only when, like governments, show the courage to be difficult, but only the causes.

President Tinubu appealed for market -based cooperation and partnerships in all nations rather than hackney appeals for aid and handouts.

President Tinubu took the opportunity to invite the Japanese government to support the campaign for reforms in the United Nations bodies, in particular the United Nations Security Council, to give a voice to African countries.

“It is the opinion of Nigeria that the search for Africa for a fair and fair representation in the United Nations Security Council is a right and fair question. In fact, Africa deserves two seats in the permanent category, with all its prerogatives and privileges, including the right of veto. Africa also deserves the category of non -permanent seats.

By facing the role of information and technology, President Tinubu has asked for international cooperation to ensure that technology becomes a tool for peace and trust, not division and alienation.

Prime Minister Ishiba stressed that locally rooted solutions are essential for the development of Africa.

“Japan is providing various cooperation and support for Africa. But first of all, Japan must know more about Africa. Therefore, in creating solutions together, this co-creation at Ticad 9, we focus on three important areas: sustainable growth in private guidance, young people and women and regional integration and connectivity inside and beyond Africa”.

He appealed to African countries to help Japan while preparing with the challenges of a decline population and the reduction of agricultural lands.

“In 75 years, the population of Japan would have been halved. In local communities, the population continues to decrease; this is a great challenge that Japan is facing. All agricultural lands are reduced, another great challenge for Japan.

Ishiba underlined the positive aspects of the African youth population: “There is another potential in Africa; there is so many young population growing in Africa, but for the power of young people in Africa to thrive, it is necessary to create a manufacturing sector and create work and which, I believe, is very important.

“In Africa, there is a primary industry, agriculture, silviculture and industries, and then it climbed to the tertiary sectors and the services industries.

“There is a leap in the economic growth that Japan and other Asian countries have experienced and have tried to switch from primary, from agriculture, from fishing, from silviculture to secondary, which is a necessary process because the power of young people could be fully made in the manufacturing sector to improve the productivity of the African manufacturing sector”.
