Former Manchester United midfielder Nicky Butt has revealed that the club must leave Old Trafford because it has fallen behind in the country’s modern grounds.
Speaking in an interview with MidnightHe noted that fans may miss the nostalgia, but the club needs to follow the lead of other top teams with modern facilities.

Old Trafford has faced problems with leaking roofs and worn seats, leading to ongoing discussions about building a new 100,000-capacity stadium or undertaking massive refurbishments.
“If you look at Arsenal. You look at all these big clubs. You look at all these beautiful stadiums there are now. You have to do that. The nostalgia will be like ‘Oh, isn’t it great, it’s not Old Trafford at all.’
“But if you don’t do that, the stadium gets older and older and older. It ends up becoming like everyone wants to forget how good, how big that stadium used to be, how great that stadium used to be. It’s just what happens with football.

“You have to move on. I think the problem is that when you start changing the name of the stadium and the naming rights, that’s when people start to see the bad side a bit, which will happen. “It’s part of it, but Old Trafford will always be Old Trafford.
“There’s no point in trying to stay there and stay there with it. It’s not. It’s not the best stadium in the world. It’s not even the best stadium in the country. And United being the club they are, they should have the best stadium, or at least one of the best stadiums in the country. And I think that will happen if they move, and they will have to move purely quickly, if it’s not feasible in the same space.”
