President Bola Tinubu has asked Nigeria’s newly appointed ambassador and high commissioner to aggressively pursue foreign investment.
He also tasked them with strengthening strategic partnerships and repositioning the country’s global image in line with evolving diplomatic realities.
The President, according to a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, by Mr Yomi Odunuga, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Goerge Akume, made the call at the opening of an induction course for envoys in Abuja.
Tinubu, who was represented by Akume at the forum, said the appointment of the envoys reflected the government’s confidence in the capacity of the envoys to advance Nigeria’s interests on the international stage.
He noted that the global system is undergoing rapid transformation driven by shifting geopolitical dynamics, economic uncertainty, technological disruption, climate challenges and emerging security threats.
President Tinubu added that these developments made the role of diplomats more important than ever.
He said: “The international system is evolving rapidly. We must be ready to meet these challenges by focusing on how best to protect and advance Nigeria’s national interests.”

The President also called on the envoys to be proactive and innovative in fostering partnerships, promoting trade and attracting foreign direct investment and technology to Nigeria.
