Tinubu extends Adeniyi’s term of office as Customs CG

The Tinubu Ball President has approved the extension of the term of office of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, in one year.

Adeniyi’s term of office will end on August 31.

He took over from the former CG, Hamed Alli, in June 2023, initially in acting capacity.

President Tinubu confirmed the appointment in October 2023.

Special advisors about information and strategies to the President, Bayo Onanuga, revealed this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.

He said the extension would allow Adeniyi to consolidate ongoing reforms and complete critical initiatives from administration.

This reform, according to Onanuga, including the modernization of NCS, full implementation of the national single window project and the implementation of Nigeria’s obligations under the African -free African (AFCFTA) African protocol.

“President Tinubu praised Adeniyi’s leadership, describing him as a reformist who was dedicated to a proven track record.

“The President stated the belief that the extension would further strengthen the NCS in achieving the strategic mandate of trade facilitation, generation of income, and border security,” the statement said.
