Tinubu secured the APC ticket with over 10.9 million votes in the national primaries

President Bola Tinubu has officially clinched the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 general elections after recording a landslide victory in the party’s national live primaries.

Results announced during the ongoing national vote counting exercise in Abuja showed the President defeated his sole challenger, Stanley Osifo, by a wide margin after voting was conducted in 8,809 APC districts across the country.

Tinubu polled a total of 10,999,967 votes, while Osifo polled 16,504 votes across the federation.

The collation of results took place at the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Center in Abuja, where governors, senior party officials and state coordinators presented figures from their respective states before the Presidential Primary Electoral Committee headed by former Senate President Pius Anyim.

The results further strengthen Tinubu’s dominance within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 presidential elections.

In the South West region, widely considered a traditional APC stronghold, the President recorded landslide wins in six states.

Lagos cast 814,988 votes for Tinubu, while Ogun polled 322,485 votes. In Ondo State, he polled 181,996 votes, while Oyo polled 142,754 votes. Osun returned 100,888 votes for President, with Ekiti contributing 85,340 votes.

Osifo recorded little support in the zone, garnering 1,186 votes in Lagos and 929 in Oyo, while failing to secure votes in several other South West states.

The Northwest Territories also produced strong numbers for the Presidents during live prelims.

Kaduna emerged among the highest contributors with 618,914 votes, while Kano polled 500,852 votes. Katsina received 467,003 votes, while Zamfara received 321,579 votes. Sokoto accounted for 301,000 votes, with Kebbi returning 292,972 votes for Tinubu.

Gombe State also recorded a strong vote share for President with 450,517 votes, while Osifo only recorded a spread across the region.

In the North-Central zone, Tinubu maintained his leadership in all states.

He received 374,787 votes in Benue, 310,990 in Kwara, 285,436 in Nasarawa and 241,720 votes in Plateau State. Kogi polled 197,370 votes, while Niger State accounted for 175,487 votes.

The Federal Capital Territory also overwhelmingly supported the President, generating 36,103 votes, while Osifo reportedly failed to register any votes in Abuja.

The Southeast and South-South regions also extended significant support to the APC leader.

In the Southeast, Tinubu polled 582,960 votes in Imo State, while Enugu polled 383,382 votes. Ebonyi polled 207,579 votes, Abia got 161,005 votes and Anambra got 43,034 votes.

In the South-South region, Delta State recorded 407,646 votes for President, while Akwa Ibom polled 389,197 votes. Rivers polled 280,082 votes, and Bayelsa polled 227,192 votes.

Osifo recorded relatively low numbers in most states, including 1,007 votes in Abia and 384 votes in Anambra.

With the completion of the nationwide vote count, Tinubu has officially emerged as APC’s presidential candidate in the 2027 elections, strengthening the ruling party’s preparations for the next elections.
