Tinubu welcomes the new investment initiatives from Qatar, says Nigeria’s readiness for strategic partnership – Thage

President Bola Tinubu welcomed new initiatives by Qatar’s investors to explore opportunities in the agricultural sector and ensured that Nigeria remains open to strategic partnerships.

The president gave the certainty on Friday at the State House while receiving dr. Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz al-Khulaifi, a special correspondent for the AMIR of the state of Qatar.

Dr. Al-Khulaifi, Minister of State of Qatar for Foreign Affairs, has transmitted Amir’s strong interest in the expansion of bilateral cooperation, announcing that a high-level corporate delegation will visit Nigeria in the coming weeks to explore agriculture, food safety and other critical sectors opportunities.

President Tinubu underlined the promptness of Nigeria to be based on the moment generated by his state visit to Qatar in 2024, committing himself to implement all the bilateral agreements between the two countries. He directed the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu; the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris; And the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, to work together to guarantee the timely execution of these agreements.

“For all the members of the delegation, I want to thank a great for having come to Nigeria. We are grateful to God for what we have lived as an in progress.

“I would like to praise brothers’ relationship between Qatar and Nigeria. The ambassador knows that I take Qatar very seriously. We are willing to go further in our bilateral relationships,” he said.

The president said that the Qatar government has shown maturity and foresight in working for global peace and deserves honors.

“I am proud of your efforts to bring peace and stability to the world. I see your efforts in human development, peace and prosperity. Like you, we are inserted between the challenge of terrorism and help our neighbors. We are aware of who is our friend and those who help us improve problems,” he said.

President Tinubu also observed the current reforms to simplify the Nigeria tax system, making it easier for foreign investors to do business in the country.

β€œWe are making efforts to reform our tax system. Following the experiences of the past and the need to move away from old ways, our reforms have been difficult. I made difficult decisions so that we can grow. We are gradually seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

“You can’t find a better partner of Nigeria. I always follow global issues and efforts. Do you have to do more in Nigeria to help fight poverty in the humanitarian area. Have you done well in the development of an economy based on knowledge in Qatar, but as far as Nigeria is concerned?”

The president said that Nigeria’s partnership with Qatar can be improved by examining food sovereignty and economic prosperity.

“We are doing well as much as possible as a leader in Africa. We want to continue promoting good relationships with you. We are ready to do everything we can do from here. We enroll in peace efforts from your government. There can be no development without peace,” he added.

Dr. Al-Khulaifi has transmitted the AMIR desire to strengthen the strategic partnership with Nigeria, in particular under the construction of peace, agriculture and petrochemicals. He expressed pride for the current level of relationships and did not wait to expand links from both the government and the government and the people.

Abdulaziz al-Khulaifi, whose responsibility include the mediation of peace in Africa and the Middle East, said that some Qatar companies will visit Nigeria to discuss investment opportunities in agriculture.
