Nigeria’s senior team is off to a good start in its first match at the Unity Cup friendly tournament in London, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Debutant Femi Azeez scored both goals for Nigeria and helped them book a place in the final, where they will defend their title against either Jamaica or India, who will play in the other semi-final.
We picked five players who were impressive for Nigeria in the match.
1. Femi Azeez – Oozes class throughout the match. He scored both goals very well and looked too good for his rival. A striking debut from the Millwall winger.
2. Kenneth Igboke – Showed remarkable composure on the ball and played a huge role in the play that led to both goals, especially the second. A debut to remember for the Enugu Rangers left back.
3. Terem Moffi – He didn’t let the pressure of wearing the captain’s armband get to him. He was simply unplayable, especially with his back to the goal. Set up both goals for Azeez to cement his return to the team.
4. Arthur Okonkwo – Had a clean sheet on his debut. Something he must have dreamed of even though he didn’t have much to do. In the second half he made three good saves to keep the clean sheet intact. He also made very good use of the ball at his feet.
5. Tochukwu Nnadi – Covered every blade of grass. He won more ball than anyone else in Nigerian colors and was largely the reason why the Super Eagles dominated the game.
