According to official reports released on Thursday, Nigerian security forces have rescued 11 abducted people and arrested 21 suspected terrorists, collaborators, logistics service providers and drug dealers in a series of coordinated operations in Borno, Zamfara and Kogi states.
The operations, conducted under the umbrella of Operation HADIN KAI, Operation Fansan Yamma and Operation MESA, took place between 21 and 22 July. Military reports highlight not only rescues and arrests, but also the neutralization of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) that targeted both security personnel and civilians.
In Borno State, troops of Operation HADIN KAI arrested three suspected ISWAP logistics service providers near New Abbaram resettlement village in Bama Local Government Area. The recovered materials included staple foods and flavorings reportedly intended for terrorist use. Additionally, two teenage girls who fled the terrorist enclave of Grazah in the Mandara Mountains surrendered to troops in Gwoza.
Combat engineers successfully detonated two primed IEDs discovered along the Dambua-Bulabulin-Kumala road. A third explosive device was found on the Cross Kauwa-Kekeno-Monguno road, the fragments have been secured for forensic analysis.
Furthermore, during raids on criminal hideouts in Monguno, troops arrested 12 suspected drug dealers, seizing quantities of cannabis, tramadol and other illicit substances.
Operation Troopsunder Fansan Yamma engaged terrorists along the Gambada-Gummi-Sokoto road. The clash forced the insurgents to retreat, abandoning 11 kidnapped victims and a motorcycle.
In Kogi State, security forces have arrested a suspected informer linked to notorious terror kingpin Kachallah Babangida. Three more suspects were arrested in Adavi and Lokoja local government areas. The troops also intercepted two logistics couriers carrying food, drinks and cigarettes, allegedly destined for terrorist cells operating in the state.
Military authorities have confirmed that search and rescue operations are currently underway in Owo, Ondo State, following the abduction of two people. Troops in that sector also recovered a bicycle and bags of coal left behind by a fleeing logistics provider. (NAN)
