Trump suits New York Times for defamation, looks $ 15 billion …

The President of the United States Donald Trump sued the New York Times, four of his journalists and the Penguin Random House publisher for at least $ 15 billion for alleged defamation and defamation.

Trump’s dress cites a series of articles from the New York Times, an editorial before the presidential elections of 2024, who claimed not to be suitable for the office and a 2024 book published by Penguin entitled “Lucky Loser: How Donald Trump wasted the fortune of his father and created the illusion of success”.

“The defendants missed the book and the articles mischievously knowing that these publications were full of repugnant and buildings on the president Trump,” said Trump’s lawyers in the deposit presented in the District Court of the United States, in the Middle District of Florida, Monday 15 September 2025.

The publications damaged Trump’s commercial and personal reputation, thus causing enormous economic damage to the value of his brand and significant damage to his future financial perspectives, said Trump’s lawyers in the deposit.

“The damage to the value of the TMTG (Trump Media and Technology Group) title is an example of how the defamation of the defendants wounded the president Trump”, said his lawyers, citing “a precipitous drop in the price of actions”.

TMTG’s stock has been under pressure in recent months, powered by concerns about the end of a so -called blocking period relating to its debut on the stock market in March.

The deposit comes after Trump threatened last week to sue the New York Times for his reports on a presumably sexually suggested note from Jeffrey Epstein.

Epstein, the dishonored financier and the sexual molester, died of suicide in a New York prison cell in 2019.

Trump claimed to separate from Epstein before the financier’s legal problems become public in 2006.

“Today I have the great honor of bringing a cause of defamation and defamation of $ 15 billion against the New York Times,” Trump said on Monday in a post on his social media Truth social platform.

In his assignment, Trump accused the newspaper of lying on him, his family and his businesses, as well as republican -guided movements and ideologies such as the first America movement, and make America again great or sorceress.

The New York Times and Penguin did not respond to Reuters’ commentary request.
