While Muslims in Nigeria and all over the world celebrate Eid-El-Fitr, marking the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan, the Minister of State for Defense, Dr. Bello Matawalle,
He urged the Nigerians to continue to support and pray for the military, observing that the federal government has made great strides in the struggle with the insurrection and insecurity since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu entered office.
In a declaration issued by his special media assistant, Ahmed Dan-Wudil, dr. Matawalle praised the tireless efforts of the security staff in safeguarding the nation.
The minister praised the resilience and dedication of the armed forces of the country and other security agencies in the fight against insurrection, the bandits, the theft of oil and other forms of insecurity.
He urged the Nigerians to continue to support and pray for the military, observing that the federal government has made great strides in the struggle with the insurrection and insecurity since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu entered office.
While recognizing that the challenges to security have not been completely uprooted, the minister expressed confidence in the results of the administration, evaluating his services in the slowness of the insecurity to 9 out of 10. He assured the Nigerians that, at the end of the year, the country would be “99 % free from insecurity, by grace of God”.
“While we celebrate today, we remember the families of our fallen heroes, those who have paid the supreme price in the defense of our sovereignty. Their sacrifices will never be in vain.
“We are committed to guaranteeing the well -being of our troops and loved ones, as well as strengthening our military skills to effectively face the safety challenges,” he said.
Dr. Matawalle reiterated the unwavering commitment of the Federal Government for national security, economic growth and social development.
He highlighted the current efforts to combat terrorism, insurrection, bandits and other criminal activities through improved military operations, strategic partnerships and approaches guided by intelligence.
However, he stressed that security is not the only responsibility for the government and security forces, but a collective duty of all citizens.
He urged the leaders of the community, religious scholars and traditional sovereigns to work closely with security agencies by providing timely information and promoting peace.
“Eid-El-Fitr is a moment of love, kindness and reconciliation.
“We use this period to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, forgive each other and embrace the spirit of tolerance and understanding,” he said.
The minister also invited the Nigerians to extend a hand to the least privileged, including orphans and widows, underlining that Eid’s true essence lies in sharing and care of others.
“While we mark this special day, please almighty allh accepts our fasting, our prayers and good deeds. It may give us peace, prosperity and continuous progress as a nation. He can protect our gallant armed forces, bless their efforts and reward them abundantly for their sacrifices.
“Eid Mubarak to all of you! This celebration can bring renewed hope, joy and divine blessings to our homes and communities,” he said.
