Village Head Akwa Ibom was arrested for allegedly shooting a sister in the Palm Gruit dispute

The State Police Command Akwa Ibom has confirmed the arrest of the Head of Ibagwa Village, the Abak Regional Government, for allegedly shooting his 32 -year -old sister during the family dispute.

Commander of the Commander of the Command, DSP Timfon John, revealed the development in a statement issued at UYO on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the incident occurred on September 6 at around 2:30 pm, when the Commander received a report on the murder attempt. A man has reported that his brother, the traditional ruler of Ibagwa, shot the head of their sister with a gun.

“The victim was immediately taken to the hospital, where he currently receives treatment and is reported in a stable condition,” John said.

The police operation immediately moved to the scene, arrested the suspect, and found a single pistol that was believed to have been used in the attack.

John explained that the initial investigation showed family quarrels that spin out of control.

“The initial investigation showed that the incident was the result of misunderstanding of palm fruits,” he said.

The police spokesman assured that the suspect was still being detained and would be charged in the court once the investigation was completed.

“The command repeats its commitment to ensure justice is served and warned that no one, regardless of status or rights, is above the law,” added John.
