Whatever Customs Customs arrested five in the main crackdown, winning the N10BN Bonkali

In a sweeping operation aimed at curbing illegal imports and protecting national security, whatever customs command from the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted 16 containers loaded with smuggled goods worth more than ₦ 10 billion.

This is even when five suspects have been arrested in connection with seizures.

The announcement was made by the Financial Supervisory of Customs and Excise, Adewale Adeniyi, during the Press Briefing at Lagos on Monday, August 11, 2025.

According to him, seizures are the result of operations targeted and driven by intelligence within the Port of Nigeria, supported by the distribution of non-intrusive inspection technology such as scanners.

Adeniyi emphasized that the crush reflects the new commitment of Customs to protect the Nigerian border from criminal exploitation.

Among the confiscated items are 40 feet containers (MRSU6407089), initially cleaned but then re-examined by Customs and National Narcotics Law Enforcement Agency (Ndlea).

The second inspection revealed: 202 cans of “Colorado Loud”-Strong Canadian Canadi Canadi Strain, weighing 101kg, two pumping rifles, 25 cartridges, Smith & Wesson pistols, and 55 rounds of ammunition and additional ammunition fire accessories.

The recipient, an individual based in Lagos, is currently being investigated.

Other confiscated items include 7 expired drug containers and illegal drugs, 3 expired food containers, including margarine, 3 prohibited used clothing containers, 2 expired tablet containers that do not have nafdac registration, 2 pouaring pouler containers (1,290 and 1,296 poultry sacks with each poult container with 1,290 and 1,296 contontor poulering (respectively poords. Five suspects have been arrested in connection with seizures, where three have been charged and sent to prison are delayed while two are currently in administrative guarantees waiting for the court date

Intelligence Customs suggest the suspects as part of the criminal network coordinated with international links. Two 40 additional containers, which were previously marked and tracked, were intercepted at the time of arrival and were believed to be bound to the same syndicate.
