Why I included two NPFL players in Super Eagles 23 Man Squad for World Cup qualifiers – Chelle

The head of the National Senior team of Nigeria Eric Chelle has revealed the reason behind his decision to call three players of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) to his team for the World Cup classification games against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, respectively.

Chelle appointed the duo of goalkeeper Kayode Bankole of Remo Stars and Niger midfielder Tornado Papa Daniel in his final list of 23 men for both games.

The coach who has only been at work for three months saw a couple of games in the league, before his decision to invite the duo to the crucial games in the World Cup qualifiers. None of them played in the 2-0 victory against Rwanda in Kigali on Friday.

Speaking at the conference before the game before tomorrow’s game against Zimbabwe, the Malian said that his decision to call them was one that he has to take with his eyes in what he believes that players will probably add the team in the future.

“My job is to see all Nigerian players in the world to analyze the player because this is the World Cup qualifier, after that is the Chan and also the AFCon later. We need to work together,” said the coach in the press.

“I think there are many players who can work together and bring something to our national team. But they need to work and need to know how I want my team to play. That’s why I choose two players and I think they are good and are very good for the future. But we need to work with them now. We prepare the future for now and, as I said, in my first press conference, the time is the enemy of the coach,” he concluded.
