Why I love Stephen Curry: Nigerian basketball sensation

Nigerian basketball sensation Oguntimileyin Oluwatamilorewho captained Purple House to victory in the 9th biennial JNISSI Schools Inter-House Sports Competition, shares his journey, passion for basketball and admiration for NBA star Stephen Curry in this interview with Sportxvibe.com.ng.


Q: How do you feel about winning this competition?

TO: First of all we have to thank God because everything we did began with prayer. Right now, I feel excited that I was able to get first place. It wasn’t easy, but we did it.


Q: Can you talk about teamwork and what helped your team succeed?

TO: When we started, not everyone was coordinated and teamwork was not strong. But as we keep working, we get better. We always support each other and that helped us succeed.


Q: What sports did you participate in?

TO: I participated in basketball, tug of war, and shot put. I wasn’t completely fit because I broke my leg last year, so I couldn’t do everything, but I still did my best.


Q: Do you have ambitions to play sports professionally?

TO: Yes, especially basketball. I love basketball a lot.


Q: Can you talk about your love for basketball and your efforts to grow?

TO: I started playing basketball even before I joined JNISSI schools, but the school took me to the next level. I am grateful to them and also to God.


Q: Who is your favorite basketball player?

TO: Stephen Curry.


Q: Why do you love Stephen Curry?

TO: I love the way he shoots. Even if you put two or three defenders on him, he still believes the ball will go in.


Q: Do you think the Golden State Warriors can be champions again?

TO: They are not playing well right now, but they can still make the playoffs.


Q: Do you think you will one day be able to play at the highest level?

TO: Yes, I think I will have the opportunity.
