-The 50 talents discovered during the finals of the Under 13 tournament in Owerri
Old Stadium, Owerri – It was a football carnival as honorable commissioner for sport, IMO State, Hon. Obinna Onyeocha, he turned to an encouraging crowd at the grand finale of the inaugural edition of the Youth Soccer Tournament Under 13, labeled “Catch They Young”.
The basic football initiative, led by the Hon. Onyeocha itself aims to discover, treat and develop future football stars from the state. According to the commissioner, the tournament is strategically designed to capture young talents in advance, feed them through a well -structured development pipeline and place them for football opportunities both state and international.
“This tournament is not just about competition,” Onyeocha said to Gathering. “It is about building the future of football from scratch. We want to discover these children now, to make them grow in high -level players and look at them dominate both national and international scenes in the years to come.”
Hon. Onyeocha confirmed that over 50 young exceptional players have already been discovered during the two -month competition between the sides of the IMO children’s club. He observed that the tests will soon begin to select a formidable team that would represent the state in future youth competitions.
“I am confident that IMO State will soon become an important fertile ground for football talents in Nigeria,” he said.
The final event was honored by the main stakeholders of the sports community, including the technical director of Heartland FC and the former Super Eagles wing, the ambassador Emmanuel Amuneke, who was specially recognized by the commissioner for his presence and sharp interest for the grass stars.
In addition to medals and trophies, Hon. Onyeocha announced that the first three teams would return home with cash prizes – an incentive aimed at encouraging young people to balance their academic research with the excellence of football.
The commissioner used the opportunity to appreciate the distinct governor, the senator, hopes that Uzodinma for the opportunity to serve and for his continuous support for sports development in the state.
He also extended gratitude to the president of the Sports Committee of the Chamber of the State of the Soul, Hon. Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu and other members of the Assembly for their unwavering support for initiatives centered on youth.
Even the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Sport, Dr. Utasi, together with other officials of the Ministry, was praised for their commitment to guarantee the success of the tournament.
The “Catch Them Young” finals mark a new era for basic football in IMO, preparing the foundations for a future generation of samples.
