2027: Fubara’s brother contests Rivers gubernatorial election

Amb. Bless Fubara, The younger brother of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has contested the 2027 gubernatorial election in the state.

The younger Fubara will contest the election on the platform of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).

In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, the diplomat-turned-politician vowed to restore the country’s economic prosperity and political stability if elected.

The candidate said he offered himself as a ready, competent and energetic candidate to “restore the soul of Rivers.”

He said the need to reverse the impoverishment of Rivers people, loss of investment, dignity and opportunities in the state prompted him to join the race.

“Today, we see rivers that are stressed, experiencing shortages and almost like a conquered nation, but we are not a conquered nation,” he said.

Fubara appealed to his supporters in the 23 local government areas of the state to turn out en masse at polling stations to “reclaim the soul of Rivers.”

He pledged to serve one four-year term to complete an eight-year term in Rivers South East Senatorial District under the state’s political rotation arrangement.
