Kwara United fall to Warri Wolves in Ozoro

Kwara United Football Club suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Warri Wolves in the round four match of the Euromatch NPFL played in Ozoro on Sunday.

An early goal from Eventus Itolo, who converted a free kick in the seventh minute, proved decisive as Warri Wolves secured all three points.

Despite conceding early, Harmony Boys responded strongly and dominated much of the game, with Philip Ozor and Gidado Toyeeb dictating play as Kwara United looked for an equaliser.

Jerry Alex and Emmanuel Ekpeyong went close on two occasions, while Ozor consistently made accurate passes to the wings, causing problems for the hosts. However, Kwara United could not capitalize on their chances before the break.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with the visitors looking for an equalizer. Coach Ashifat Sulyman’s tactical changes almost paid off when substitute Abdulsalam Abdulsalam found himself in a promising scoring situation after replacing Ekpeyong, but the opportunity was eventually cleared.

The Harmony Boys continued to push for a point as the game entered its final stages, with Ferinyaro producing several dangerous crosses into the box in a last-ditch attempt to unlock the Warri Wolves defence.

Speaking after the match, coach Ashifat Sulyman expressed his disappointment at his team’s inability to capitalize on their opportunities and described the missed opportunities as unfortunate.

However, he assured that the team will work to recover the lost points in the next games.

Kwara United will look to bounce back in midweek when they host Nasarawa United in an NPFL match in Ilorin.
