507 high police officers write a promotion exam

Thursday, the commission for police services (PSC) has subjected over 400 high police officers throughout the country to the promotion exams in the field of efforts to entrench the merit, competence and character in the Nigerian police forces.

According to the Commission, 56 police chief superintendents were recommended for the promotion to the degree of police commissioners assistants, while 451 superintendents were recommended for the elevation to the degree of main police superintendents.

The candidates underwent a written exam presided over by judge Paul Adamu Galumje, commissioner PSC representing the judiciary, together with Dig Taiwo Lekanu (RTD), commissioner representing the police and the president of the Permanent Commission for Police Affairs.

The PSC said that the exercise has marked a new era in which the promotion exams would become indispensable for officers who aspire to higher ranks, ensuring that they are mentally equipped to manage the needs of the 21st century police in line with the best global practices.

The police superintendants should take their round on Friday 19 September 2025.

The President of the Commission, Dig Hashimu Argentu (RTD), reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to build a dynamic, efficient and effective police capable of safeguarding lives and properties. He urged the Nigerians to continue supporting the police to strengthen their morale and commitment to the national service.
