The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the Nigerian government led by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of orchestrating the killing of protesters by security forces in the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests across the country.
The opposition party, in a statement on its official X account on Tuesday, said the killing of civilians was unacceptable and could not be justified “under any pretext.”
Sharing a video showing security forces chasing and beating protesters, the party said, “The horrific killings of peaceful and unarmed Nigerians by the unscrupulous security forces controlled by the APC in various parts of Nigeria are totally unacceptable and cannot be justified under any guise,” the PDP statement said.
The party also condemned the excessive use of force by security forces in dispersing protesters in various parts of the country.
“The killing and excessive use of force against unarmed protesters constitutes a gross violation of human rights and a clear indication of the APC’s intolerance of dissenting voices.”

The PDP also demanded a thorough investigation into what it called the heinous crime and the prosecution of those found guilty.
He also advised the APC-led federal government to listen to the aggrieved citizens and take necessary actions to address their demands.
“The Nigerian people expect an immediate investigation into this heinous crime and the prosecution of all those involved.”
“The APC-led federal government must listen to citizens and take urgent steps to meet their demands, including reducing fuel prices, addressing the falling Naira, and providing food and jobs.
“The demand for good governance remains a legitimate and inalienable right of citizens, especially in a democracy.”
