Tinubu arrives in China for state visit

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu on Sunday arrived in Beijing, China, for a state visit.

According to the Nigerian Presidency, Tinubu’s presidential plane landed at the Beijing Capital International Airport on Sunday at 7:12 p.m. Chinese time and the President was welcomed by his Chinese counterpart, President Xi Jinping.

Tinubu’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, who disclosed this in a post on his official account X on Sunday, said the Nigerian President will attend the 9th Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit themed, ‘Joining Hands to Advance Modernization and Building a High-Level China-Africa Community with a Shared Future.’

In a post titled β€œPresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrives in Beijing for his official state visit to China,” Olusegun wrote:

β€œHe will meet with President Xi Jinping and will hold meetings with Chinese business leaders on the sidelines of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

β€œThe President was received by the Minister of Public Works, David Umahi; the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Wale Edun; the Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani; and the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as well as other Nigerian and Chinese government officials.”

He also stated that while in China, Tinubu will also meet with CEOs of 10 leading Chinese companies, which manage assets of over $3 trillion in sectors such as ICT, oil and gas, aluminum production, port development, finance and satellite technology.
