NUPENG promises to protect Dangote oil refinery from ‘economic saboteurs’

The Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has vowed to mobilize all its resources and strength to safeguard the Dangote Refinery from attempts by “economic saboteurs” to hamper its operations.

This comes as the refinery began rolling out premium motor spirit (PMS) also known as petrol to the Nigerian market.

In a letter addressed to the Vice President of Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Company, the Secretary General of NUPENG, Comrade Afolabi Olawale, expressed the union’s excitement about the opportunities the refinery presents for employment, socio-economic prosperity and national growth.

However, Olawale also acknowledged potential threats to the refinery’s success, stating, “We are not ignorant of the plans and tactics of the arch enemies of the people and the country’s economic saboteurs to derail the wheels of progress of this remarkable pioneering train.”

NUPENG has vowed to resist any attempt to undermine the refinery’s optimal performance and ensure that it meets local demand for petroleum products. Olawale stressed, “As NUPENG, we pledge to mobilize all our strength and resources to defend and protect this beautiful African pride.”

The union’s commitment to protecting the refinery underscores its dedication to supporting Nigeria’s economic progress and the welfare of its workers.
