Soldiers rescue 13 students in Kaduna

Nigerian Army troops have rescued 13 kidnapped students in Kaduna State.

The victims consisted of six boys and seven girls.

In a statement on its X account on Friday, the Nigerian Army said the students were rescued after a fierce gun battle with terrorists in Chigbolu village, Kachia local government area of ​​the state.

The article read: “In an aggressive offensive against terrorism and insurgency, troops of the Nigerian Army have destroyed another terrorist stronghold, rescued kidnapped students, and recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition. The troops also eliminated some insurgents, while some were captured alive.

“On September 12, 2024, based on reliable intelligence information, troops deployed in Kaduna State launched a highly coordinated operation aimed at rescuing kidnapped persons from violent extremist camps. Engaging in an intense gun battle in Chigbolu village, Kachia Local Government Area, the troops defeated the terrorists, forcing them to flee and abandon their captives.

“A thorough combing of the area resulted in the rescue of 13 victims, comprising 6 males and 7 females, as well as the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, 87 rounds of 7.63mm ammunition, 4 magazines, a locally made rifle and the sum of ₦192,220.00.

“In addition, five solar panels, five mobile phones, dry rations and clothes were also recovered. The rescued victims have been immediately evacuated to Division 1 Medical Services and Hospital for medical treatment.”

“In another significant operation, troops in Kachia Local Government have intercepted two notorious terrorist logistics suppliers, Mallam Usman Waikili and Salisu Idris, in Kagarko village.

“The troops recovered ₦1,306,700.00 in cash, three SIM cards, two mobile phones, three national identity cards, 8 ATM cards, two Moniepoint POS machines, an MTN MiFi and other items from the suspects.”
