The National Electoral Commission (NEC) has warned against posting the results of the Edo State gubernatorial election on social media.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Anugbum Onuoha, who spoke on Channels Television on Saturday night, said the commission was yet to receive the election results from the 18 local government areas in the state.
He added that the results were still at the sub-district level and would be forwarded to the local government level before reaching the state counting center.
Onuoha said: “I cannot tell you when we will announce the results in this state. When the results are out, we will announce them.

“Until now there have been no results from any local government.
“I want to correct one thing: those who publish the results, it is not their job to announce the results.
“The KPU has not announced the results. I am not even a state election official. The election official will announce the results. But I am surprised by what I saw on social media. That is not the correct position of the KPU.
“Nobody has the capacity to do that. The law is clear about who can announce results. So, they should stop.”
