Owhelogbo in Isoko North Local Government Area of ​​Delta was emotional over the weekend as the family of late Chief Ovuakporie Agbodo bid farewell to his sister, Mrs. Mercy Obuwhomero Ekwenuke, nee Ovuakporie.

The funeral ceremony was attended by prominent Isoko personalities such as the Iyasere of Isokoland, High Chief Enahoro Eta, Otota of Isokoland, Chief Macaulay Ovuzuorie, Prince Peters Ufuoma Ekperare, Deputy Chairman of Isoko North Local Government, Dr. Evelyn Aluta and other distinguished sons and daughters of Delta State who graced the ceremony.

Mrs Ekwenuke, who died at the age of 84, passed away in Lagos on May 17, 2024 and was buried at the Agbodo family compound in Eniyen neighborhood, Edhomoko, on Saturday after religious services at St Stephen’s Anglican Church, Owhelogbo.

She was a devout Christian throughout her life and lived in Lagos as a trader until her death.

He leaves behind a brother, Chief Owho Ovuakporie, a retired banker and former chairman of Owhelogbo Community Development Union, two sisters, Mrs Monica Okpobrisi and Mrs Mary Awaro, three sons, Joy, Akpofure and Festus, two daughters, Lucky and Ogagaoghene, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
