The representative ordered the IGP to produce a fake Director General of the PFIPC agency, Adeyemi

The House of Representatives committee probing the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) has ordered the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to produce the Director General of the allegedly fake body, Adeyemi Martin, before it on Wednesday no later than 12 noon.

The committee gave the order on Monday after the Nigerian Police confirmed key aspects of the ongoing criminal investigation, including a petition from the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President.

The petition accuses Adeyemi of fraudulently representing himself as director general of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers and the President’s Foreign Investment Promotion Council.

The chairman of the committee, Rep. Yusuf Gagdi, argued that Adeyemi’s presence was necessary because of the gravity of the allegations and their implications for individuals and government institutions.

“This committee clearly needs the suspect Director General to appear before this committee. The names of the community are involved. The integrity of the community is involved. The names of the institutions are involved. The integrity of the institutions is involved.

“At this time that is not an option. We need him here to confirm some documents to us in a way that does not interfere with our investigation so that we can submit the report on time,” he said.

The committee also ordered its clerk to write to the Inspector General of Police officially.

Earlier, assistant commissioner of police, Basir Abdullahi, representing the Inspector General, told lawmakers that although criminal investigations were still ongoing, police had filed eight charges at the Federal High Court against the suspects.
