One dead, two missing in Oyo floods

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed that one person died and two others were missing in Tuesday night’s floods in Oyo State.

The NEMA South-West Coordinator, Kadir Olanrewaju, disclosed this to journalists on Wednesday while assessing the extent of damage at the scene around Joyce-B/Mobil area of Ibadan.

Heavy rains that lashed several parts of the state capital affected several residential areas and destroyed properties on Tuesday.

Olanrewaju attributed the flooding to improper drainage in the area.

He said: “People have to move from this place because if it rains again, the flooding will be very bad; you can see that the bottom of most of the buildings and fences are fragile.”
