Okpebholo and Akpata still in the race – TrendyNewsReporters

Obaseki’s last desperate gamble fails: Okpebholo and Akpata still in the race

In a desperate bid to save a crumbling empire, Governor Godwin Obaseki and his PDP puppets have once again resorted to their signature tactic: deception.

Yesterday, in a ridiculous display of desperation, the PDP and the Edo State government descended to new heights by spreading wild and false rumours. They forged letters claiming that the APC candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, had been disqualified, while also trying to peddle the ridiculous idea that Olumide Akpata of LP had withdrawn and supported Asue Ighodalo. Pathetic.

Let’s make one thing clear: Obaseki, Asue Ighodalo and their PDP lackeys are staring defeat in the face and instead of offering solutions, they are busy fabricating lies. How desperate do you have to be to resort to such antics? How low does the PDP have to go before Edo people say “Enough is enough”? It seems that the Governor’s team has more time on their hands for propaganda than for real governance. But can we blame them? They have had eight long years to try to improve Edo State, and they have failed spectacularly at every turn.

Here is the truth that Obaseki and Ighodalo don’t want anyone to talk about: Edo State has nothing to show. From crumbling roads to an education system in tatters, from a breathless healthcare sector to a complete lack of infrastructure development – Godwin Obaseki’s legacy is one of unmitigated failure. Yet here they are, throwing mud, trying to paint others with their color of incompetence. Edo people are not stupid. We know a bad product when we see one, and no amount of fake news can mask the bitter reality of the PDP’s incompetence.

And let’s not forget the shining star of this comedy of errors, Asue Ighodalo. For eight years this man was Obaseki’s chief economic advisor. What did you do with this role? Absolutely nothing. No roads, no jobs, no progress. The man has spent years counseling Obaseki towards economic ruin, and now they want to sell him as a candidate to lead Edo State? Is this a joke or is this just the PDP’s way of admitting they have nothing to offer?

The only reason Obaseki supports Ighodalo is simple: Asue has a lot to hide from the Governor. He was there, side by side with Obaseki, hatching plans to swindle the people of Edo. But as my people say: “You can only fool people for a certain time.” The desperation in the PDP ranks shows that they too know the game is up. Everything is collapsing around them and now they want to drag everyone into the pit of shame.

Too bad for Obaseki. Shame on Asue Ighodalo. Too bad for the Democratic Party.

Their failure is their legacy. Their lies will not save them. The elections are local and the people of Edo have managed to overcome the farce. “No amount of lies can change the will of the people.” My people have a saying for this kind of behavior: “Shame, shame, shame. SHAME!”

The PDP may continue to play dirty, but the joke is on them. They presented themselves as a party without vision, without leadership and certainly without solutions.

The people of Edo have already made up their minds and nothing that Obaseki’s circus can conjure up will change that. The real verdict will be given on election day. And it won’t be in their favor.
